Elastomeric coating applied as a liquid or powder to improve impact resistance, and should the glass shatter, to hold the fragments together. Commonly used where glass fragments could contaminate or constitute a safety risk for example laboratory glassware (particularly vacuum equipment) lamp guards and in food processing plants.
