Impact resistant coatings are used where there is a likelihood of the coating being hit - for instance by stones on off-road vehicle chassis or car door lock plates. Nylon coatings are usually the best solution, especially if the coating is also decorative. If the impacts are very large (hoppers in a stone quarry for instance), polyurethane rubber may be more suitable.
