Epoxy powder coatings are not nearly as widely used as they were in the past, partly because they are more expensive than polyesters and also because they are not resistant to UV and will become chalky if used outside. However the chemical and corrosion resistance of epoxies is superior to polyester, so there are many applications where they will still be the first choice. See also fusion bonded epoxy
